What am I being asked to do?

First, prayerfully seek God’s leading regarding your Planted commitment:  Read the Planted Devotion Guide daily (for 5 weeks), participate in a small group or Sunday morning Bible study, and discuss with your family what a Planted commitment will mean for you.  Second, make a sacrificial commitment according to God’s leading on Commitment Sunday, November 10th.  Third, faithfully uphold your commitment, starting on First Fruits Sunday, November 24th.  Finally, prepare to be amazed at God’s work among us.  “[God] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Eph. 3:20)

 

How will a commitment to Planted change my regular annual giving?

You are being asked to increase your annual giving for the next two years.  During this time, every contribution to God through the LCWG will be a contribution to Planted.  Every aspect of the ministry to which God is calling us will be funded through Planted.  Both our current giving and all additional giving will go into a single fund from which all of our expenses will be paid.  

 

Are there ways that I can give to Planted in addition to cash?

Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give to Planted.  Consider donating stocks, property, savings, or collectibles.  Please contact the church office if you need assistance in facilitating gifts of property or stock.


How long is a commitment to Planted?

You are being asked to commit to an amount that you will give over the next two years, November 2013 to October 2015.

 

How will debt be paid down during the campaign?

We will make extra principal payments on our building loan each month with surplus funds given through Planted.  Our goal is to minimize our interest burden and retire our debt as quickly as we are able.

 

What if I am severely in debt right now?  Should I give to Planted?  

Yes.  You are encouraged to continue paying off your debt, yet God calls each one of us to give out of what we have to show honor to Him.  If you need help getting started with debt repayment, call the church office to connect with a budget counselor, who will also help you decide what you can realistically give to Planted.  Remember, Planted isn’t about giving “to something,” it’s about giving “from something.”  It’s about giving from hearts overflowing with the love of Christ.

 

What will happen if we do not meet the campaign goal?

We will need to make difficult financial decisions.  Achieving less than 100% of the campaign goal will cause us to retire less debt, and we would likely need to reduce spending for staffing, educational support, maintenance, and capital projects.

 

What will the LCWG do if we exceed the campaign goal?

Ministry team leaders have been challenged to dream “big” if additional resources are made available through Planted.  We would be thrilled to share details about potential ministry plans with you.
